The Democratic Party is in chaos.
Prominent Democrats are grandstanding over the Mueller Report while the Trump Administration prepares to wage another heinous war for oil. The Democratic Presidential field, as in 2016, now features yet another disliked, but probably unstoppable force for non-change. Bernie Sanders is trying to energize the left wing of the Party, setting them up for another handoff to the center.
We have a unique opportunity, if we’re willing to seize it.
Til now, Green Party Presidential campaigns have been seeking to spread the message, to build the base, to gain that minimum 5% of the vote. We have got to reach higher.
When the Democrats throw Bernie under the bus — and they will — and the voters are left to hold their noses and vote for another empty suit, there will be one party left to stand for freedom, justice and even human survival.
We have to run this one to win.
Can we win? Is that even relevant? What choice do we have? Will anyone other than a Green President take meaningful action against climate change? Against endless wars over dwindling resources? Do we have time for this business of lurking and waiting and hoping someone finally listens? And who in their right minds would vote for someone without the full intention and plan to win?
A Green victory may never be closer than in 2020. And our lives may very well depend on it.
